Educational Workshop about HIV Population Research and Evaluation of Interventions for Prevention and Treatment of HIV

From 16 to 20 October 2023, the University of Zagreb School of Medicine an educational workshop HIV Population Research and Evaluation of Interventions for Prevention and Treatment of HIV

The workshop was organised by WHO Collaborating Centre for HIV Strategic Information, which has been active since 2004 at the Medical Sociology and Health Economics Department, Andrija Štampar School of Public Health.

The workshop was attended by 45 participants from a number of sub-Saharan African countries (Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia) and Asia (Myanmar, Malaysia).

Part of the participants work for the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention offices in Africa and for the UNAIDS offices in Africa and Asia.

The topic of the workshop was the development of research that provides data on prevalence and incidence of HIV in high-risk groups and behavioural risk factors. During the practical part of the workshop, participants developed research protocols that will later be useful for their work in their countries.

Workshop lecturers came from the WHO Collaborating Centre and from the University of California, San Francisco.

Over 2,800 doctors and public health professionals from 109 countries around the world have been trained through the WHO Collaborating Centre, and expert assistance for the World Health Organization has been provided in over 30 countries of Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and Europe, making it one of the leading global health programs in Croatia.
