Dear active participants,
please make sure to carefully review all information regarding abstract submission.
General Information
Submissions open on the 1st December 2025 at 6 pm and close on the 1st February 2026 at 6 pm.
The abstract must be written in English. It must be original. It must not have been previously published. It must not be a revised version of an existing paper. It must not be written using artificial intelligence. Once submitted, the abstract is final and no further changes will be accepted.
The abstract does NOT need to follow the theme of this year’s CROSS, “Designing the Good Life.”
The total number of authors is limited to 5 (including the mentor). You may be the first author on only one abstract. You may be an author on up to 3 abstracts in total. Therefore, it is possible to be: first author once and co-author up to twice or co-author up to three times. This limitation does not apply to mentors.
At the time of abstract submission, the first author must already have a ticket. Tickets can be purchased on the Entrio website https://www.entrio.hr/. It is important to note that the number of tickets is limited.
After submissions close, the Scientific Programme Committee will evaluate the abstracts using a peer-review and double-blind system. Each abstract will be independently assessed by two members of the Committee, who will not know the identity of the authors, and participants will not know who reviewed their abstract. This process ensures objectivity and transparency.
Between the 1st March and the 10th March 2026, participants will receive information on whether their abstract has been accepted.
Afterwards, it will be necessary to create a poster. All poster preparation details will be provided once acceptance notifications have been sent.
During CROSS, which will take place from the 14th April to the 17th April 2026, you will be required to present your abstract live during the Poster Session in front of Committee members, fellow colleagues, and all interested attendees. Additionally, you are required to attend the CROSS program. If the first author cannot present, one of the co-authors may present instead. In that case, the co-author presents and attends the lectures. Any changes must be reported no later than 24 hours before the start of CROSS at cross.spc@mefhr.org
The Book of Abstracts will be published and sent after the conclusion of CROSS. It will include all abstracts presented during the Poster Sessions whose authors attended the CROSS program.
Instructions for Writing the Abstract
When submitting, you will select one of the offered categories according to the topic. This classification is important only for organizing the Book of Abstracts. If your abstract fits multiple topics, choose the closest one. If none apply, select “Other.”
The title may contain up to 20 words. You must follow the AMA Manual of Style regarding capitalization. This website automatically applies correct capitalization rules: https://capitalizemytitle.com/
Example: Atypical Presentation of Acute Appendicitis (correct), Atypical presentation of acute appendicits (incorrect capitalization)
The word count must be 250 ± 10%, meaning 225 to 275 words. Only the abstract text counts. The title, keywords, and paragraph headings (INTRODUCTION, CASE REPORT, etc.) do not count.
For each author, write the affiliations: Department, Institution, City, Country. Authors may have multiple affiliations. Academic titles (prof., PhD, MD, etc.) are NOT required for mentors.
The abstract must include 3 to 5 keywords. They must follow Medical Subject Headings 2025 (MeSH) and be selected only from the group Main Heading (Descriptor) Terms. A keyword refers to an entire concept that can be made up of several words. They must appear exactly as written in MeSH, with correct capitalization and punctuation. Keywords must be separated by a semicolon “;”. They must be in alphabetical order.
