Mission
The mission of University of Zagreb the School of Medicine encompasses the efforts of the School to educate competent health professionals who will improve medical practice, education and science with their knowledge.
The aim of the School is to enrol excellent students who will understand theoretical and practical, psychological, sociological, economic, and cultural factors affecting health and disease, who will be willing to dedicate themselves to caring for their patients, take the necessary actions and show compassion for the patients and their families, and to promote the health of the individual and the community. The School of Medicine wants to offer a programme which is focused on the students, integrates basic medical sciences, provides excellent clinical education, professional standards and ethical principles, applies the best methods of education, and recognizes and rewards the best students.
The scientific mission of the School of Medicine consists of the implementation of collaborative, innovation-oriented research programmes and bringing together scientists in the field of basic medical, public health and clinical sciences.
The School wants to create a stimulating intellectual environment, promote scientific and humanitarian aspects of medical practice while simultaneously conducting scientific research within the framework of international and national projects that result in advancement of science, application in the teaching process, and improvement of health care.
Vision
The University of Zagreb School of Medicine is a national, internationally recognized school for its excellence in education, scientific research and knowledge transfer and application in the field of biomedicine and health.
Strategy
The Development Strategy of the Zagreb School of Medicine is based on the core activities of the School and include the following:
- Culture promotion strategy and development of quality assurance system,
- Quality strategy of study programmes,
- Student support strategy,
- Strategy for quality development of scientific research work,
- ICT development and application strategy,
- Strategy for the development of cooperation at national level,
- Strategy for the development of international cooperation,
- Strategy for the development of infrastructure, business and work organisation.
The evaluation of the strategies is part of the internal and external independent evaluation of the quality of the School of Medicine and is the basis for promoting the quality culture of all its activities.

Activities
According to the Statute of the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, the activities of School are as follows:
- Conducting integrated studies in medicine and postgraduate university studies and doctoral studies in medicine,
- Conducting graduate studies in nursing,
- Scientific activities in the field of biomedicine and health,
- Professional activities in the field of biomedicine and health and participation in the implementation of health care programmes,
- Conducting of various forms of professional and scientific training for health care professionals as part of continuing medical education.
