Erasmus+ Clinical & Research Traineeships in Countries Outside of EU – 2nd Call
Deadlines: it is recommended to apply as soon as possible
Final deadline: 15 April 2027 at noon
We are pleased to inform you that the University of Zagreb has opened a call for applications for the Erasmus+ student clinical or research traineeships (length of 2 to 10 months) in countries outside of EU (list of the countries) in the period from 1 December 2026 to 21 June 2027.
The call could be closed earlier (depending on the number of applications and availability of funds) so it is recommended to apply as soon as possible, that is immediately upon finding a receiving institution and receiving the Acceptance Confirmation document.
Who can apply?
All students from the 2nd year onwards, regardless of your citizenship. Research traineeships are possible from the 2nd year, while clinical traineeships are possible from the 4th year onwards.
Where?
The receiving institution can be any hospital or research institution in any country outside of EU and programme countries - list of the countries.
During the traineeship, you can only be in one hospital/institution (different departments within the same institution are fine).
Please note, a university or school of medicine cannot be a receiving institution for these traineeships.
Erasmus+ funding:
The Erasmus+ monthly stipend is 550 or 700 euro per month depending on the host country and the length of the traineeship. Students with lesser means (e.g. having permanent residence more than 30 km away from Šalata 3, Zagreb, Croatia; more information and other categories in Dodatak II on the university website) are eligible for additional 250 euro per month.
When can the traineeship happen?
- During the summer 2026 – when you don’t have any classes scheduled
- As part (or whole) of the 6th-year Clinical Rotations course, but remember:
1. You and the receiving institution have to complete both sets of paperwork - for the Clinical Rotations course AND the Erasmus+ traineeship. The Clinical Rotations course has its own deadlines and procedures that you have to follow.
2. The part of the Clinical Rotations course for which you apply for the Erasmus+ traineeship/funding has to last for at least 2 months and it has to be in one institution (different departments are fine).
Application procedure:
Application documents have to be uploaded directly to the online application, but to ensure the success of your application, please e-mail all the documents to the International Relations Office (jasna.turkovic@mef.hr) at least one week before you plan on applying so that we can check that everything is correct.
Application documents:
a. Letter of ECTS coordinator (you have to complete the 1st page and write a motivational letter, in Croatian or English) – once you complete the required sections, please send it to jasna.turkovic@mef.hr who will give it to the ECTS coordinator for signing, it takes approx. a week to get the signature
b. Proof of enrolment and transcript of grades (in Croatian)
c. CV (in Croatian or English, on Europass form)
d. Acceptance Confirmation – the document has to be signed and stamped by the hospital, not its university (in cases of university hospitals)
e. Language certificate of the language specified in the Acceptance Confirmation (B1 level at the minimum)
f. Proof of status of student with lesser means (Dodatak II on the university website)
The selection criteria for Erasmus+ traineeships is on the first-come, first-served basis - if everything is correct with the application and there are enough funds, your application will be approved by the University of Zagreb.
