Centre for the Promotion of Best Health Practices

The Centre carries out the following activities:

  1. Develops and conducts multidisciplinary scientific research in the field of public health and clinical medical sciences and related scientific fields of biomedicine and health, as well as socio-behavioural, epidemiological, statistical, economic, and organisational professional research and education, and particularly research relating to:
  • Health structures and technologies in primary, secondary, and tertiary health care and public health,
  • Health processes and procedures at all levels of health care and their comparison with the highest scientific standards of medical science,
  • Developing databases about the functioning of different health care segments and their use for the translation of evidence-based medicine into evidence-based health practices,
  • Identification, research, evaluation, presentation, and promotion of best health practices at individual level, within individual working groups, organisational units, institutions, or management processes that contribute to the creation of an efficient, effective and quality health care system,
  • Training, development, and education of health care professionals of various profiles using case-based learning of best practices and problem solving aimed at standardising and disseminating best practice standards throughout the health care system,
  • Development of policy documents and their implementation in practice,
  • Publication of professional and scientific studies of best practices in journals and their presentation in Croatia and international professional public, at seminars, conferences, specialised websites, etc.,
  • Data processing using modern bioinformatics data and evaluation of measuring instruments (questionnaires);
  1. Conducts integrated undergraduate and graduate courses and postgraduate courses in the agreement with the Department of Family Medicine, Department of Medical Sociology and Health Economics, Department of Medical Statistics, Epidemiology and Medical Informatics, Department of Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care, and the Department of Environmental Health, Occupational and Sports Medicine;
  2. Multidisciplinary scientific research;
  3. Organizes, conducts and promotes specific educational activities, intercollegiate and interuniversity classes in the scientific field of biomedicine and health: scientific field of basic medical sciences, clinical medical sciences and public health, and healthcare;
  4. Concludes contracts with leading institutions and companies active in the field of the organisation and implementation of health services, research, and production of health technologies;
  5. Brings together top experts from the scientific and professional fields that form the foundation of modern data science in applied mathematics, biostatistics, economics and health organization, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, health ecology, medical statistics, and informatics;
  6. Establishes cooperation with international centres and leading institutions and associations ((European Observatory on Health Policy – Health System and Policy (HSP), Cochrane Collaboration, Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Joint Commission International) and publications (BMJ Best Practice) dealing with identical or similar activities.
