The Centre for Health Activities of the School of Medicine was established by the decision of the Faculty Council in 2010. The Centre is the professional, teaching and scientific centre of the School where health care is performed for the purposes of the teaching in the following fields: family medicine, occupational and sports medicine, school medicine, medical microbiology and parasitology, forensic medicine, medical genetics, laboratory medicine, diagnosis and storage of cells, tissues, organs and biological materials, various expert opinions, expert witnessing, public health, epidemiology, methods of image and functional studying of organs and organic systems, and pathology and cytology.
The Department for Academic Conciliar Medical Opinion was established with the aim of gathering the most excellent experts of Croatian medicine to provide medical advice, most often in the form of so-called “second opinion”. Counselling services include expert opinions on the state of health, including medical assessments of the results and outcomes of a particular diagnostic or therapeutic procedure, recommendations of examinations and procedures, opinions on the potential advantages and risks of carrying out or not carrying out recommended examinations and procedures, opinions on possible alternatives for recommended procedures, opinions on recommended lifestyles and nutrition, and advice on health insurance benefits and procedures for exercising those rights.
Since the School employs leading Croatian experts in all fields of medicine, it is necessary to offer citizens this specific and unique type of health counselling service.
